One night stand with my president(chapter 129)

Chapter 129: I Don't Know Her

Ronan said, "Ms. Hensley, you..."

Adeline said, "Alright, let's eat."

After Adeline finished speaking, she bowed her head and focused on eating her meal.

Ronan reluctantly scooped a spoonful of curry noodles into his mouth.

He never liked curry in the first place.

Now it was even harder to swallow.

In the afternoon, Adeline received a call from the police.

After all, she was the one who reported the incident involving Millie, and she almost became a victim herself.

So naturally, the police would contact her with any updates.

Although Millie kept saying that Kaylie instructed her and those men to harm Adeline, she couldn't provide any evidence.

The police also contacted Kaylie.

Kaylie said she did know Millie and was aware, that Millie wanted to harm Adeline, but she thought it was just idle talk. She never expected Millie to have the audacity to bring those illegal drugs into the country.

As for Millie's alleged involvement, Kaylie denied it and provided various alibis.

She claimed not to know those men.

This aligned with the testimony of those men.

Regardless, anyone involved with these illegal drugs would surely face criminal detention.

The police officer who called Adeline asked if she had any relationship with Kaylie.

Adeline recounted the previous events truthfully.

She didn't exaggerate or express righteous indignation, just calmly explained what had happened before.

Just after finishing the call with the police, she received another call from the front desk.

The receptionist said someone was causing a scene in the lobby and claiming to be her mother.

The woman shouted that Adeline neglected her family despite having such a good job and earning so much money.

Normally, someone like that would be promptly escorted out by security.

But hearing her repeatedly mention Adeline, the receptionist and security dared not act rashly and called Adeline instead.

Adeline knew it was Janiyah.

Only someone like her would cause such a commotion.

"Just throw her out," Adeline said coldly. "I don't know her."

"Alright, Ms. Hensley."

The receptionist breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing her response.

Just as she hung up the phone, she was about to ask the security to throw Janiyah out when Ronan stepped out of the elevator,

Ronan wasn't in a good mood today and wanted to leave work early, But as soon as he , descended the stairs, he saw a middle-aged woman sitting on the floor, wailing.

"What's going on?" Ronan asked the receptionist.

The receptionist helplessly explained, "Mr.

Ronan, this woman claims to be Ms. Hensley's mother and is here to see her."

"Ms. Hensley's mother?" Ronan was surprised, "But, how could..."

"I'm not sure what's going on. I just called Ms. Hensley, and she said she doesn't know the woman. I was about to have her thrown out."

"I'll go take a look," Ronan said.

"Mr. Ronan, be careful..."

The receptionist watched anxiously as Ronan approached Janiyah.

"Ma'am, do you need any assistance?" Ronan asked.

Janiyah looked up at him and impatiently said, "Who are you? I want to see Adeline! Let that unfilial daughter come out and see me!"

The receptionist was sweating with fear and hurried over to rebuke her, "Watch your language! This is Mr. Ronan, the Deputy Director of our HR Department!"

Janiyah realized that Ronan was not ordinary.

"Mr. Ronan? Oh my, you have to help me!

Adeline is a heartless person, only caring about her own enjoyment and not about us..."

Ronan's brow furrowed deeply at her words.

He said coldly, "Ma'am, watch your language. Don't badmouth our employees."

He had come over thinking it might be related to Adeline, but Janiyah started hurling insults.

Janiyah glanced around and then got up from the ground. She softened her tone and said, "Oh, l was just too angry. Sorry about that. Adeline is my daughter, but we had some unpleasantness recently, so she refuses to see me."

"You're really Ms. Hensley's mother?" Ronan examined her. "You don't look like Ms. Hensley."

Janiyah said awkwardly, "Well, sometimes mother and daughter don't look alike. Adeline takes after her father. I'm her mother. Don't you believe me? Look!"

With that, Janiyah took out her phone and showed Ronan a photo.

It was a family photo.

It was taken when Adeline was in high school.

Adeline didn't want to take such a family photo with them, but Mateo didn't want people to say he neglected his daughter, so he forced her to take it. Adeline was young and couldn't resist.

"Look, isn't this Adeline?" Janiyah said.

Though  the photo showed Adeline in high school with a ponytail and no makeup, Ronan recognized her instantly.

"Yes, it's indeed Ms. Hensley."

Janiyah said, "Look, this is her dad, this is me, and this is her younger sister...”

Seeing this photo dispelled most of Ronan's doubts,"So what caused the conflict between you?" Ronan asked

"Oh, it's just a small matter, She's too stubborn, so she won't listen to me," Janiyah vaguely said.

"But we're family, Now we're facing difficulties, and she's not helping."

"What kind of difficulties?" Ronan asked,

"It's her sister! She's still young and naive, so she got deceived and did something wrong. Now, she's been arrested. But Adeline refuses to help.

She can't be that heartless," Janiyah said,

After saying that, Janiyah looked at Ronan's face, thinking that he must have some interest in Adeline's family matters.

So she added, "Actually, Adeline is just angry for a moment, so she's not helping. She still cares about us. It's just that, her sister will suffer more if she's kept for another day, and our family is in dire straits right now, borrowing money everywhere..."

As Janiyah spoke, she observed Ronan's reaction closely.

As expected, Ronan immediately asked, "How much do you need?"

Janiyah promptly replied, "We need at least 600 thousand dollars!"

To Ronan, tens of thousands of dollars were just a trivial sum.

After a moment's thought, he took out a bank card from his wallet and handed it to Janiyah, saying, "There's 100 thousand dollars in here. The PIN is on the back. Take it, but please refrain from causing any further disruptions at the company."
