One night stand with my president(chapter 128)

Chapter 128: What Is He Angry About?

As soon as he uttered these words, Adeline knew what he intended to do.

She shook her head and said with a smile, "I'm not hungry yet. If you're hungry, go ahead and eat. I should head home."

She couldn't get any closer to Russell now.

Even though she had anticipated the outcome, hearing her say that still made Russell feel a bit disappointed.

But then he thought to himself, "One shouldn't be too greedy."

He was already content to have spent so much time with her today.

If he rushed things, he might end up pushing her away.

So Russell said, "Okay, you should go back now. It's cold."

Adeline nodded and turned to leave.

Just as she was about to enter the gate, she heard Russell's voice again.

"Ms. Hensley, no one can predict what the future holds."

Adeline paused.

But in the end, she didn't turn back and walked straight through the gate.

She had just returned home when she saw a message from Russell.

It was a photo they had taken together by the snowman just now.

She remembered what Russell had said earlier.

He was implying that even if she didn't like him now, perhaps she would change her mind in the future.

Indeed, one could never predict how things would turn out.

But Adeline felt she wouldn't fall for anyone else.

Even though that affection was buried deep

within her heart and even though she dared not hope for anything, the days and nights spent by Harrison's side were already etched in her heart, impossible to erase.

After a moment's thought, Adeline decided not to reply to Russell's message.

Just as she was about to put down her phone, it suddenly rang.

She looked down and saw it was a call from

Harrison.

Why would he be calling at this time?

Adeline thought perhaps it was something related to work.

So she quickly answered the call.

"Mr. Thomson."

"I'll be going to Marifort City tomorrow."

Harrison's voice sounded cold.

Adeline was taken aback and asked, "That's not in your schedule. Is there an unexpected situation?"

"A hidden  business to attend to."

This wasn't uncommon, so Adeline didn't think too much and replied, "Alright, I'll arrange it."

As per usual, she would accompany Harrison on such trips.

But this time, as soon as she finished speaking, Harrison immediately said, "Amber will go with me."

Adeline was shocked.

"So this time you want Amber to accompany you, and I don't need to  go?" Adeline asked.

"Yeah."

Adeline was silent for a moment before saying, "Okay, I understand. I'll arrange it."

After saying this, she heard Harrison's breathing seem to grow heavier.

Was he angry?

He had said he would take Amber with him, and she couldn't refute him. So why was he angry?

Before Adeline could figure it out, Harrison had already hung up the phone.

Adeline furrowed her.brows.

She had mixed feelings for a moment, but she quickly shook her head, forcing herself not to dwell on these matters.

After the New Year, she would resign.

For now, she just needed to focus on her work.

The next morning, Adeline arrived at the company. As expected, she didn't see Harrison and Amber when it was time to start work.

Others seemed to have caught wind of it too, their gazes toward her holding a touch of caution.

Everyone in the executive office knew that Harrison always brought Adeline on business trips. Unless there was some particularly important work on Adeline's end that she couldn't get away from.

But this time, he had taken Amber instead.

Was he signaling to everyone that in the future, Amber would replace Adeline?

When Anna brought documents to Adeline, she spoke softly, afraid of touching Adeline's sore spot and making her sad.

However, Adeline didn't react much, just continued to work as usual and went to the company cafeteria with them at noon.

In the cafeteria, they ran into Ronan.

Ronan came with colleagues from the HR department, completely without airs. His words were sweet, making their colleagues happy.

When he saw Adeline, his eyes instantly lit up, and he walked over to her immediately.

Ronan asked, "Ms. Hensley, why are you having lunch in the cafeteria today?"

"Well, Mr. Thomson is on a business trip," Adeline smiled.

Ronan paused and said, "Mr. Thomson is on a business trip, then you..."

Why wasn't she accompanying Harrison?

Adeline pretended not to catch Ronan's meaning, turning to look at the menu on the screen, considering what to have for lunch.

Anna whispered to Ronan, "Mr. Thomson" took a new person from the executive office with him."

Ronan's expression instantly cooled down.

"What does he mean by this? Did Ms. Hensley do something wrong?"

"No, Ms. Hensley's work hardly ever goes wrong." Anna also felt indignant. "Actually, it's not a big deal for him to take someone else on a business trip, but he has always taken Ms. Hensley before. Now he took someone else. Isn't it embarrassing Ms. Hensley?"

Ronan pressed his lips together.

He watched Adeline walk towards the curry food counter, and he followed.

Adeline ordered a serving of curry noodles.

Ronan didn't like curry, but he didn't feel like eating anything at the moment, so he also ordered curry noodles and then followed Adeline to find a table to sit down.

"Ms. Hensley, are you alright?" Ronan asked, concerned.

Adeline gave a faint smile and said, "I'm fine.

Why do you ask?"

"I've heard..."

"Mr. Thomson has his considerations for whom he wants to take on business trips," Adeline said. "I'm Mr. Thomson's secretary. I just need to do my job. Mr. Thomson hasn't withheld my salary, so I naturally wouldn't have any extra thoughts."

Ronan observed her face but didn't notice anything unusual.

Did Adeline not care about this matter?

Did that mean she only saw Harrison as an ordinary boss?

Ronan faintly felt relieved.

He said, "That's good. If you ever feel wrong, come and tell me. Although I'm a little scared... Well, although I have to respect my brother, if it comes to you, I'll definitely stand up to him."

Adeline said, "You and he are brothers. Why

stand up against each other? You should work together to make the Thomson Group even better. Mr. Thomson is an excellent leader and a business genius. You should learn from him, and you'll gain a lot."

Upon hearing her words, Ronan suddenly felt

uneasy.

He felt like Adeline's words sounded like she was about to leave her job, so she was reminding him in advance.
