One night stand with my president(chapter 126)

Chapter 126: Build a Snowman Together

Russell silently watched Adeline building a

snowman.

Because of the cold weather, her cheeks were flushed red, adding a touch of innocence to her.

She squatted down to build the snowman for a while. When she tried to stand up, her legs were probably numb from squatting for too long, causing her to lose balance and sit directly on the ground.

Russell instinctively took steps towards her.

Adeline was sitting there, dazed.

Actually, it didn't hurt. She was dressed warmly, and there was a thick layer of snow on the ground.

But she remembered she used to fall while building snowmen as a child.

At that time, her mother would laugh while helping her up, then remind her to be careful.

But now, there was no mother to help her up.

Adeline's vision blurred.

Sensing something warm on her face, she realized she was crying.

She really missed her mother.

When Russell approached her, he noticed tears streaming down her face.

He was taken aback.

Russell thought, "She cries after just falling down?"

He was grateful for his habit of always carrying a pack of tissues.

He took out a tissue and bent down to gently wipe away the tears from her face.

Adeline, lost in her tears, suddenly felt someone wiping her tears away.

Through tear-blurred eyes, she saw Russell standing in front of her.

His fingers gently wiped the tears from her face with a tissue.

Adeline was stunned, her voice hoarse as she asked, "Mr. Hunter, why are you here?" Actually, he had intended to have the driver leave just now.

But before they had left Shurford Residence, he suddenly asked the driver to stop the car and then walked back to her neighborhood, sitting on a bench.

He didn't know why he was sitting here in this cold weather, probably because he wanted to be closer to her.

Just as he was about to leave, Russell saw her coming out.

She started playing in the snow.

His gaze was firmly fixed on her, unable to move away.

He hadn't intended to disturb her, just wanted to stand quietly by and watch.

But when he saw her fall, Russell couldn't help himself.

"Sorry," Russell said. "I didn't mean to intrude on you."

Adeline sniffled, feeling a bit embarrassed.

She couldn't even build a snowman without falling down and crying like this, and Russell had seen it...

But Russell didn't say anything further, just pulled out two more tissues and handed them to her.

Adeline hastily wiped away the tears on her face.

"Can you still get up?" Russell reached out a hand to her, asking softly.

Adeline hesitated for a moment, but she didn't take his hand, instead getting up from the ground herself.

Russell's gaze dimmed slightly.

He didn't immediately withdraw his hand but took the tissues from Adeline's hand, walked a little way off, and tossed them into the trash bin.

After disposing of them, he walked back.

Adeline hadn't fully recovered from her daze

when she heard him ask, "Does it still hurt?"

"What?" She didn't understand at first.

But then she quickly realized.

Russell probably thought she was crying because she was hurt from the fall.

To be honest, she did look like that just now.

Adeline chuckled bitterly, explaining, "I wasn't crying because I fell."

Russell looked puzzled.

"I..."

Adeline didn't know how to explain to him.

After all, she and Russell hadn't reached the point where they could talk about anything.

"As long as you're not hurt," Russell said.

He could tell she didn't want to talk about it, so he wouldn't press.

His gaze fell on the half-built snowman nearby.

Right now, it was just a snowball, nothing special to see.

"Are you building a snowman?" he asked.

"Yes." Adeline nodded gently.

Russell smiled and said, "When I was a child, I used to build snowmen and have snowball fights every winter."

"Really?" Adeline asked, amazed.

She thought that someone from a wealthy family like Russell would have had various classes to attend during his childhood.

"Really," Russell said. "I was busy when I was little and had to attend various classes, but I was mischievous. Whenever it snowed, I would skip class and sneak out to play. I used to get scolded by my mom every time I got home."

Adeline couldn't help but smile.

She said, "I didn't expect you to be so mischievous when you were a child."

It was so different from now.

Looking at Russell's current gentle

demeanor, no one would have thought he was a mischievous truant who used to get beaten up often when he was a child.

"Well, people have to mature," Russell said half-jokingly. "I can't keep getting beaten up every day when I grow up."

Adeline found his humor infectious and couldn't help but laugh.

"Ms. Hensley, can I build a snowman with you?" Russell asked.

Perhaps because he appeared before her when she was feeling sad, or perhaps because they had a common hobby from childhood, Adeline hesitated for a moment and nodded.

"Do you have gloves?" Adeline asked.

Russell looked at his empty hands and said, "! didn't bring any."

"Your hands will freeze without gloves. I have some at home. Let me get them for you. Wait here for a moment," Adeline said.

Russell agreed, then watched Adeline turn and go upstairs.

He let out a long sigh of relief.

Just now, he was worried that Adeline would refuse him because she had always been sensible and knew how to keep her distance, especially after learning that he liked her.

It was evident she wanted to keep her distance from him.

If it weren't for him mentioning his childhood snowplay, Adeline probably wouldn't have agreed just now.

Russell knew she didn't like him.

But he still wanted to try.

Whatever the outcome, at least, in the future when he looked back, he would have no regrets.

Not long after, Adeline came back downstairs.

She was holding a pair of gloves.

"These are the largest gloves I could find," Adeline said awkwardly. "See if they fit."

"They should do," Russell replied, took the gloves, and tried them on.

For him, the gloves were indeed small.

But they were usable.

"These will do," Russell said with a smile.

The gloves must have belonged to Adeline.

There seemed to be remnants of her warmth on them.

Adeline temporarily pushed aside all her other worries and focused on discussing with Russell what kind of snowman they should build.

Just then, a car passed by not far away.

The man inside the car paused for a moment when he saw the two of them, then quickly instructed the driver to slow down. He pulled out his phone and swiftly took a photo of Adeline and Russell.

After taking the photo, the man hesitated for a moment, then decided not to send it to Harrison but instead sent it to Sam.

"Sam, what's going on? I saw Russell with

Harrison's secretary!"
